Read how by changing your thoughts, you can change the way your life is going right now…

What do you think is the most powerful tool you have in your life? Is it your hands? Maybe it’s your intelligence? I believe the most important tool you have is your thoughts. The way we think is the way we act, and the way we act is what determine our path in life. There are also elements, like our culture or our legacy that influence as external sources of change. However, the way you talk to yourself through your thoughts, will be the powerful influence that will affect your choices, because a situation can be looked as a menace or an opportunity.

In his book “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life. Living The Wisdom of the Dao¨, Dr. Wayne Dryer talks about this topic. Even though he doesn’t talk exactly how to change your thoughts, it is a very profound book that explains the Dao Teh Ching, one of the oldest books of Taoism, were in its 81 verses, describes the taoist phylosophy.

In this article, I will try to explain how to change your thoughts.

The first part in changing your thoughts, is actually realizing what are you thinking. Are you thinking positively about yourself, or are you saying bad things about you inside your mind? How often do you think things are going your way, and how often do you think about all the things that are wrong in your life? When you are with someone, do you think anger or hate thoughts, or you try to send love thoughts? To tell you the truth, I think 99% of the people in the world thinks very negative thoughts. It can be about themselves, about others, about their current situation, about their past, or about their future. I actually realizing how you think, you are making a great improvement. Because it will help you been aware of how negative your thoughts are.

Now, you may believe that you are a terrible person because you have these thoughts. It is natural to have negative thoughts, we were not educated on how to control our mind, and therefore we don´t know we have the ability to decide what we think.

The second part in changing your thoughts to change your life, is to realize how important is to choose the right thoughts. There are metaphysical reasons why you need to tune your thoughts, and there are scientifical reasons. The metaphysical reasons talk about the law of attraction, which states that you attract what do you think, so if you have bad thoughts, you will attract those events. The scientifical reasons are mostly about motivational and self awareness needs. Abraham Maslow, on his Theory of the Hierachy of Needs, states that selfachieving is the true necessity humans want to attain. And it is required to have a different thought process to achieve it. So after you’d realized what thoughts you think, you need to understand that you are capable of choosing their thoughts you want.

For example, when you are saying to yourself ¨ I can’t¨, you are actually establishing a psychological limit to yourself, which projects to the reality. Most people are able, for example, to jump from an airplane. It is not hard, you just jump and opened your parachute at right moment, or jump with an instructor. I have done it, it’s a great experience. However, if I asked my mother she will jump from an airplane, she would tell me ¨I can’t, it is too dangerous¨. However, it’s dangerous because she beliefs it is, not because it is an actual fact. For example what do you think kills more people, sharks or deers? Believe it or not, statistics show that car accidents because there was a deer in the road, kills more people than actual shark attacks. So, you need to become a no limit person. Someone who doesn’t judge what is possible or not, but just tries. It is better to try and fail, then the remorse of network trying it. That’s why most people say it is better to love and lost, than never had loved.

The third part in changing your thoughts to change your life, is to start working out positive thinking, on desired outcomes. You need to write down your goals or desires, and to keep reading them. (I wrote a previous article on this, you can find it on the life changing quotes section) By trying to believe something, your mind starts to work on it. For example, if you have a task to do the next day, you can ask yourself how to solve that problem, during your sleep time, and let your mind figure out how to solve it. Also, you have to catch yourself when you are having negative thoughts. The best thing to do is to say a positive thoughts out loud, when you are having negative thoughts. It will stop your mind from thinking, and will focus the attention on what you really want by saying it orally.

The last and fourth part, is to freeze the change. This means, to change your life, you need to mantain the current state of your mind. Right this time, I hope you are catching yourself doing negative thoughts, and changing them to positive ones. The way you phrase change, it is by rewarding yourself when you are doing what you propose to. In this case, you can give yourself a treat, or making some time for yourself when you thinking right. It’s almost like, when you finish cleaning the house, you are exhausted, and you decide to take a break and give yourself a reward. You need to act the same way with your thoughts. Don’t undervalue them, they are your main tool to change your life.
