To start to change your life, there are simple and real ways to do it. In this list, I have gathered 63.5 explained ideas to change your life.

1. Set Goals

2. Write your purpose

Can you tell your life purpose? If you didn’t answer immediately, you haven’t figure it out. Think about what is your mission in life, what is the reason of you living. Is it about god, others, you? Think of your past experiences, what is the road you have walked? Where are you going? What I have learned in my life, is that the purpose is the pursuit, the road you walk. It is not about getting to a place, but the trip you do to get there.

3. Take a walk

This is great to clear your mind from all the problems, and to think about how to change your life. In other words, to think about your life. Go out, clear your mind, appreciate what you have, appreciate what you are doing. There will be no perfect moment, than now.

4. Forgive Yourself

Most of the issues people work on is on themselves. And the main cause is their inability to forgive themselves from actions or decisions they have taken. Go to a mirror, and tell yourself “I forgive you”, this may be what you have been needing.

Some people believe that to change your life, you have to make a 360° turn. In some cases, yes. But a lot of people, just need to be more organize. We tend to think of organize people, as the character of friends, Monica Geller. In the show, she even had 11 categories for her towels! That is overreacting, not to be organized. My point is, to organize your life, you don’t need to get to that extreme.

Before start to organize everything your house, you need to organize your life, and my that, I mean your mind. Problems are a permanent element in life. If you expect to start doing the things you want to do, when you are out of problems, wait till you die, because that is not the issue. The meaning of change your life, is to change what is inside first. So here are a few ideas to get you started:

Organize Your Life Lesson 1. Define what you want in six months

This is as easy as I can put it. I won’t be talking about goals, or purpose, or the meaning of life. Just set this straight to yourself: what do I want to achieve or where do I want to be in six months? Write three things down in a piece of paper, and put it everywhere. You can put it on your mirror, your car, your fridge, your own, your PC.

To manage time, the main element in it is discipline. Remember, your time is… yours.Everyone has duties: kids, family, a demanding boss, home tasks, etc. The real reason why you are not doing what you want, it is not because there are so many tasks, but because you are not managing what you do, to make time for yourself. Let’s say, you need to clean the house and you want to read a book on Wayne Dryer. Why not you using audio self help (audiobooks) to read, while you are cleaning the floor? It is not that you need to put your full attention in a simple task. It is using your time wisely to change your life. Another example, you want to practice your golf swing’s, but you need to take care of your kids. Why not taking your kids with you, and teach them how to play? Or the most common example, “I want to have time for myself”. Then, you need to use the calendar and mark when are you going to have this time, and what you need to do before to make it happen.

Are you stressed out right now? To manage stress, here are a few guidelines.

Stress is your body’s way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When people feel stressed by something going on around them, their bodies react by releasing chemicals into the blood. These chemicals give people more energy and strength, which can be a good thing if their stress is caused by physical danger. But this can also be a bad thing, if their stress is in response to something emotional and there is no outlet for this extra energy and strength. My point is, stress is not always bad, but when you feel you are not right, then, to change your life, this is what you need to do to manage stress:

- plan by visualizing expected events.
When you have unimportant event coming, which make you feel now there’s, a great way to release some of the stress you are feeling, like nervousness or fear, is to simply rehearse it. You can do it mentally or by acting. Run it through your mind over and over, the words you will say and the responses you may get. These will allow you to gain self-confidence, and assess self-help motivation mechanism.

When a previous article on “change your life, find friends“, I developed the idea that you need to emphasize your persuasion skills to interact better with people, and by doing this, you can be more social. Now, in this article, the focus is not so much making friends, but how to become the leader on that team or a group. The ideas I’m going to share, are based on the book “how to Win friends and influence people”, by Dale Carnegie.

Idea 4 to Become Leader: Leadership: Giving Criticism & Driving Improvement

- Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
To become a leader, you need to motivate people. Praising is a way to open the communication channel with others. It is easier to take criticism after some praise. For example, look for things done well before calling attention to failings. A leader is present not only in bad times, but rewards the good job.

- Talk about your own mistakes before criticizing the other person.
One great way to talk to people, is to give own examples of your experiences, rather than criticize.Telling a story, instead of giving the recipe, is fantastic to let people grow by themselves, for example, you can tell the story of how and event change your life. Also, the burden of criticism is easier to bear when shared. So, share your experience, even bad ones, with people to make a connection.

A lot of people find barriers when trying to be more social. Here is a way to find new friends and become more sociable.

In his book “How to Win Friends and Influence People”, Dale Carnegie explains a study he conducted for many years, and reveal the ways to influence people and find friends. When you try to become more social, the key is developing your persuasion skills. People who are not persuasive, tend to follow the crowd, or become lonely. In this article, I will explain the ideas of Dale Carnegie and how you can use them today.

Idea 1: Building Personal Relationships to Find Friends

- Never criticize, condemn or complain.
Even though many people tend to criticize to have something to talk about, you will find more enemies by doing this. Remember that a person who applies self-criticism is extremely rare. Therefore, your criticism won’t be welcome. Also, criticism makes others defensive and resentful. So you need to change your life, by applying more positive reinforcement when you talk to someone, this means, saying good things about people.

- Become genuinely interested in other people.
Something we don’t want to add me, but it is true, it is that people are most interested in themselves. So a great tip to become interested in others, it is to remember people’s birthdays and other important details.

Let me ask you a question, can you tell me your life’s purpose? If you can’t respond immediately, you don’t have it. Finding out what to do about it…

The first question I asked, is not meant to hurt you. This to help you define yourself and find purpose. Henry David Thoreau was trying to say in his previous life changing quote, that you may go through life without knowing what was all about. If you think we are just born, grow, have a job, have kids and die, then, why are you living? Don’t you feel you would like to change your life?

Every living being has a purpose. For example, without bees, there will be no pollination. So what? Okay, this is what will happen in the words of an expert:

“If all the bees in the world were kill over tomorrow, a situation that doesn’t look entirely unlikely at this stage, it would take nature far longer to recover than our agriculture would demand. New technologies for artificial pollination would need to be introduced while the bees were pensioned off. Food shortages would immediately become an issue, as the available artificial technologies are nowhere near as efficent as the bees. There is no doubt that the industry would continue to function, albeit using a slower model of production. This would result in the hiking of prices for basics like fruit and veg, including anything that might be higher up the food chain.”

Happiness is an ambiguous concept. From the Greek philosophers and in every world culture, people have tried to determine how to be happy. In this article, I don’t want to do the same as everyone, they giving you common sense tips. What I will like to try is to help you uncover your own way to be happier and change your life.

We have to start with what you think these happiness. Is it to have a smile on your face every day at every hour? Is it to have the perfect life? And what is the perfect life? To be realistic, I think happiness has been defined by the media. We see beautiful, rich and extroverted people in TV and movies, who seemed to show us what is happiness about and how to live happy. However, you have to understand that this is not real. They are just actors playing a role. Offstage, they may be more miserable than an African child with nothing to eat.

Most interesting, is to find out what happy people do. According to studies, Denmark is the happiest country in the world. BusinessWeek says this:

In this article, I won’t be talking about diets. There are a lot of diets, that you can define on the web or books. I think most important, is the reason why to do a diet. Most people just start a diet they read about, but drop out after a few weeks. So it is more important to mentalize yourself, before starting anything.

If you visualize your goal first, it is easier to achieve it, then just doing things without a purpose. So, why is it important to change your life and start a diet?

Data from thethe U.S. Census Bureau’s Statistical Abstract of the United States shows that Americans are the fattest people of the planet. But in the short term, maybe being obese is not a big deal. Sure, socially it is difficult to be fat person at school or work. People tend to make jokes about them, or to act different to them. However, the big concerns are on the long term. It can  change your life dramatically.

A study by Dutch researchers appeared in the Annals of Internal Medicine. It looked at data collected from 3,457 adults age 28 to 62 in Framingham, Massachusetts, between 1948 and 1990. The results show that, if you are obese by the time you are 40 years old, you will live less.

By changing the way you look, you can change your life. Here are several tips that can help you achieve a change…

First of all, I’m not the fashion guru. In this article, I’m not trying to show you how to dress up on how to make an extreme makeover. There are some youtube is that you can watch to do that, which I’ll talk about them later. But for now, let’s clear the concept of changing your body.

It is not about surgical procedure, or a TV extreme makeover. Your body is a reflection what you think about yourself. For example, professional people always dress very professional. They use a amazing suits, and combine all their clothes really nice. They take care of having shiny shoes, and proper haircut, etc.

It is necessary for them, because they have too show and image to their clients. That is, an image of success and had been day DM of knowing what they want in life. This is social psychology. You may disagree me (I actually thought different 10 years ago), but you have to realize you are not alone in this world, you leaving a community, and you are part of it. It is not about what people think of you, and letting it affect you. It is about showing what you desire to be or what you want to show to the world about yourself. For example, that’s why many rock stars dress so cool. They are always ahead of fashion, because they represent fashion. They represent a lifestyle of excesses, by over dressing themselves. Can you imagine a rock star dress with the big white T-shirt and a pair of old jeans? Maybe in the 80’s, but now, it is unthinkable.

Habits are the source of getting what you want. You do or you don’t…

In a previous post, we talked about how like changing your thoughts, you can change your life. This is one of the greatest tools you can develop to change your life. However, thinking he’s a previous state of acting. And acting, is what get you to a place you want to be, to achieve your goals.

Let me tell you, most people… don’t act. They simply have the habit of doing the same things, over and over, and they ask themselves why aren’t they not getting what they want. Look in this example how what looks to be the same habit, can actually change the result of two people. Think about two runners, working to win the next year’s marathon. One of the runners decided to run 2 miles every day. The other runner decided to add 1 mile every week, and start running 1 mile every day. By the end of the year, the first one will be able to run without difficulty the first 2 miles in the marathon. However, maybe after 5 miles, he will start to feel tired. Now look at the second runner. He decided to run an extra mile every week. It wasn’t very hard. If you train every day 1 mile, surely you will be able to run an extra mile the next week. So at by the end of the year, if he was a constant and persistant, he was able to run 52 miles. Let’s say he got only  half of that, so he was able to run 26 miles. Even with half of the effort, surely, he will be able to win the first runner, who only ran 2 miles every day.

Can friends hold you down when you are trying to change your life? How can you stop it?…

Do you still talk to your old friends from school? If you do, you’re lucky. However, most of us leave a lot of friends in the past. This is not something to feel bad about, it is natural because you don’t have any more that connection (school) with your friends. Therefore, it is harder to have something to talk about, I’m both start to lose interest.

This can also happen when you are trying to change your life. When I started my self process of changing, I started to realize how rude and negative were all of my friends, I had to find a way to develop my own self help motivation, because I couldn’t count on them. For example, on time we went to a concert, they kept critisizing everyone on the street, on the concert, on the restaurant, etc… I didn’t want to keep going that, because when you criticize somebody else, you are actually showing what you really are. Yes, it is funny sometimes! But you are laughing about the person, not about the situation. Anyway, I started to become more distant from my friends, because at the end, they didn’t help me change.

What do you think is the most powerful tool you have in your life? Is it your hands? Maybe it’s your intelligence? I believe the most important tool you have is your thoughts. The way we think is the way we act, and the way we act is what determine our path in life. There are also elements, like our culture or our legacy that influence as external sources of change. However, the way you talk to yourself through your thoughts, will be the powerful influence that will affect your choices, because a situation can be looked as a menace or an opportunity.

In his book “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life. Living The Wisdom of the Dao¨, Dr. Wayne Dryer talks about this topic. Even though he doesn’t talk exactly how to change your thoughts, it is a very profound book that explains the Dao Teh Ching, one of the oldest books of Taoism, were in its 81 verses, describes the taoist phylosophy.

In this article, I will try to explain how to change your thoughts.

Ok, so we were talking about how to follow you dreams, even when everybody “thinks” you’re wrong. If you just got in, go to the first part of the Wayne Dwyer story here.

Wayne Dryer talks about this in his book “Wisdom of The Ages”. Each chapter summarizes the philosophy of a different inspirational/religious leaders. One of the characteristics he found out on this people was this: they don’t listen to the good opinion of people.

So, how do you develop this ability of been yourself? How do you change your life in this aspect? Here are 3 basics:

a. Learn to accept yourself for who you are and what you look like. Take a good look at yourself in the mirror and say this aloud: “I love myself, accept myself and those who judge my exterior will find it harder to know my interior”.

b. Don’t isolate yourself.  For example, when you get the opportunity to make a friend, don’t just blow them off because “you’re a rebel and you don’t care what they think”.

c. Worrying solves nothing – if it’s that big a deal, make a plan overcoming depression and fix whatever it is that is bugging you.

The big question from all people I know is: “How can you change your life?”

Most guys and so called “gurus” will give you “their” answers, on how to change your life. About 5 years ago, I had an car accident that did change my life. I was working as a kindergarten teacher in Houston, and didn´t appreciate all the things that I had back then. I was surrounded by the love of my children and was doing very well economically. I was living independently and had my whole life ahead of me.

However, one day after exiting the gym (which I will make no publicity to…) a car went directly to me and hit me, a tree and a post. The driver was going to park the car and accidentally left his foot on the accelerator. Like a miracle, the post and the tree did help me take less of a hit, but the mark left in my life was overwhelming. I needed that kind of event to change my life and actually realizing the truth: we are lucky to be alive, and each day gives us a new opportunity to change and become better persons.

It may sound corny, but it is actually true. Most people never appreciate what they have, been material things or the love of a partner, friends or family. Another secret does “gurus” don´t want to tell you is this: it is not your fault you can´t change. According to some behavioral studies, it is proved that change faces resistance all the time, and when it is not made fast and the new state is “frozen”, chances are we´ll return to the previous state (which most of the time is unhappiness or dissatisfaction).
