audio self helpLooking for audio self-help? Can it really help you?

Audio self-help CDs or MP3 are great source of self-development. Depending on your learning style, which are kinestetic, visual or auditive, you will learn better. To find out what kind of learning style you can rely the most, think about your experiences at school: what did you enjoy and learn the most? When you watch a movie in your class? When you were listening to the teacher? Or when you were playing a game?

Audio self-help is great for people with auditive learning style. Personally, I fall asleep very fast when I’m reading a book. I love learning, but there is something in reading that doesn’t work for me. A few years ago, I found out a great way to read books without visually watching them. They are audio books. Someone is reading or talking to you, while you do something else. It’s like listening to music, that you are learning from it.

There’s also a great advantage on listening audio self-help books, self help tapes or self help hypnosis. You can go back and relisten the material. You are with a teacher, then he is explaining the concept, you can’t stop him or her, and ask to go back and repeat exactly what he or she said. The answer may be shorter, or maybe there will be no answer. So, when you read on audio book, you don’t have to ask the person to go back, you just rewind.

Is the only self-help DVD The Secret? What other choices do we have?

About three years ago I watch The Secret, also called laws of attraction movie. It was about using the laws of nature to create your own reality. The film was available  on the Internet and was able to purchase on DVD.  I ordered these self-help DVD, and realized the following: it only showed me the top of the iceberg. The way they presented all the material was so general, I asked myself if this was for real.

So, I started to search for more self-help DVDs, and I got to the conclusion that you have to be specific on what you are looking for. For example, there is a great self-help DVD from Brian Tracy called “Time Management”. The DVD is only one hour long, and it shows you the best techniques to manage your time and get things done. There are also the shows of Dr. Wayne Dwyer on PBC, but I haven´t found them on DVD.

On the matter of productivity, there are a lot of DVDs, however, I haven’t found a self-help DVD that really helps people to change their lives. You can find a lot of self help tapes or CDs, but not a single DVD! You can even find self help hypnosis!

self help hypnosis
Is self-help hypnosis for real or is it a lie?

Most of us think about hypnotism and something mysterious and only for entertainment. We have seen it on TV, where some magician hypnotize a person in the audience and make them do funny movements. In reality, if not his is use a semantical tool, useful in a clinical environment and psychotherapy treatments, and with people trying to use it as a self-help hypnosis tool.

It announces alters your state of conscious, making you feel relaxed and creating a sense of peacefulness. This allows the subconscious mind to be suggested to change a behavior. It is as if you have opened a door inside you and you were able to leave a message.

For example, in self-help hypnosis, your body and mind are very suggestible. In a clinical example, it has been used for light anesthesia during surgery, and as a self-help treatment, for pain reduction. It can also be used to plan suggestions to change your life.

Many theories explaining the work process of hypnosis and still there are new studies for this matter. Hypnosis appears to be a form of dissociation, which is a condition in which parts of memory get split off from other parts, is the active ingredient responsible for creating some forms of amnesia, and, in severe cases, multiple personality disorder. The dissociation involved in hypnosis is far lighter and milder in nature than in these other disorders.

Self Help tapes
Are you looking for self-help tapes to deal with your depression or personal problems?

Self-help tapes are great for people who likes to listen as their learning style. According to studies, people might get a different learning a rate according to their preference learning style. So, as an example, if you think you can learn better when people talk to you, self-help tapes are the best choice.

When you are looking for self-help tapes, there may be three choices for you:

1. Hypnosis tapes: what you want to do with this tapes his listen to them at night, and they will act on you while you are sleeping. Studies are inconclusive in the effectiveness of hypnosis tapes, however results have been found to date to help on a subconscious level of the mind. They are great for problems like smoking, overweight, and self-esteem. You can even create this type of self-help tapes using a script and music such as classical. If you search on google, for self-made hypnosis, you can find how to do it.

2. Self-help tapes for a specific problem: if you have found a specific issue in your life he won a handle, you can find a treatment in tapes. The most usual product you will find our self-help tapes for depression. In these type of tapes, you will learn how to diagnose your problem, and develop a self-help treatment for it. It may be a good choice if you have a minor problem, but if you are dealing with a deep problem, such as the death of someone you love, you may want to try these other choice.

Self Help for DepressionCan you make it on your own? Is self help for depression possible, without asking for help? Read this story to find out…

I found a story about a young boy who committed suicide because all the bulling he was dealing with in his school. His name was Jared Benjamin High, you can read the whole story here. The point is, Jared wasn’t able to find out how to overcome his depression. He didn’t ask for help. Maybe, he just didn’t know he could.

I want you to know this: it is ok to ask for help. You can do it on your own, but you need someone to show you how.  Looking for self help for depression is not a lonely road. Here are some of the lessons I learn by myself, I want to share with you, so you don’t get to become another Jared.

1. Ask for help to people who love you

Very common, we ask for help for depression on the wrong place. For example, asking a “buddy” for advice, when he or she actually doesn’t care. You need to think about the people who really love you, cares for you. There is always someone to count on, but be sure to pick the right person. And when you ask for help, tell the truth. Don’t try to hide the facts or your true feelings, get them out, let the other person know how you feel. Share your feelings, even when they are negative.

self help motivation

Self Help Motivation. Can You Motivate Yourself, or You Need Someone? Learn What Scientists Said…

I was reading an article on Psychology Online. It showed an study between differences of internal and external motivation. So you can understand what this terms are, internal motivation means simply “self help motivation“, ways you motivate yourself. On the contrary, external motivation means someone else is trying to motivate you, or something (like money, for example). The report conclusions were the following:

“Although our society is largely extrinsically-motivated by external rewards such as money, fameand power, research has indicated those who are intrinsically-motivated by inner desires for creativity, fulfillment and inner satisfaction are psychologically healthier and happier.”

This is just a recent study. Older studies from real scientists (people who actually make some research, who don’t say everything that comes to their mind… like “gurus”) were focused on the same deal, and had the same results. For more info, read about the theories of motivation here.

Conclusion: the most important motivation… comes from yourself! People can give you money, cars, or diamonds, but what actually keeps you going is your selfmotivation.

So how do you motivate yourself, without all those material things? Danny Cox, author of the book “Seize the Day”, explains the self help motivation guidelines to achieving a great day and staying happier than ever.
